The good
-Ryan Tannehill
The rookie, was by far the best quarterback at the exhibition game. Almost all of his passes were on target. However, he had a couple of bad passes but that should be expected from a rookie quarterback. He through better on the run than in the pocket, he made several great plays off of right bootleg passes, especially a very nice pass where he hit Devon Bess in stride on a deep post, allowing him to beat the safety. Look for his mobility to be a big part of the dolphins playbook this year. The biggest problem for him is staying in the pocket. He would constantly run out of the pocket if he felt the slightest pressure, even when there were open receivers. This problem will probably go away after his first couple of games, because it looks like it is probably rookie jitters. Overall I would say that he should definitely be the dolphins starter when they face the Buccaneers next week in the preseason opener
The bad
-Dolphins quarterbacks not named Tannehill.
David Garrard was signed by the Dolphins this offseason after back surgery, and a year away from the NFL. He was incredibly rusty. When he first got on the field he fumbled several snaps, one resulting in a turnover, and his passes were of by several yards. Later on he was able to pick up the snaps, but he was unable to escape the pocket on any attempt, where you can really see how his back is still not even close to 100%. Matt Moore, who led the Dolphins to a couple late victories last season, was absolutely dreadful so far this preseason. He would constantly through the ball out of bounds as soon as he called hike, and he would constantly over through his receivers. Whenever he did hit a pass he was never able to hit a receiver in stride, the receiver would always have to stop or go back for the ball. At the beginning of the season expect Tannehill to start, Garrard to back him up, and Moore to be third string.
The ugly
-Chad (OchoCinco) Johnson
Chad Johnson was probably the worst player on the field on saturday. He could not get open the entire practice, and when the ball was thrown to him he would either drop it, or not be doing the proper rout. He had one catch off of a screen play that he bobbled and almost fumbled when hit by CB Jimmy Wilson. I wouldn't be surprised if he was cut before the season even starts.
Ryan Tannehill was at training camp? I thought he couldn't report until he was signed?
